In the course of the years the number of musical pieces that accumulate
in your parlor grows into a miniature library; is there a hymn-book among
them? It does seem going too far to
suppose this question can have any place.
Surely one would say there is no such place as a Christian home without
a collection of religious hymns.
Perhaps you play and sing
yourself, father and mother, and often entertain your children in this way;
what do all those words mean which they enjoy so much because they are intoned
by the sweetest voices on earth? Not of
course the silly vanities which are accompanied by everyday popular airs.
But are they words which turn
their tender minds and hearts towards God?
Has it ever been brought home to you how much all this has to do with
the lives your children lead, with their dispositions and habits of conduct and
character?
